Mrs. Vonnie L. Phillips, age 77, of Macclenny, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Jacksonville. She was born in Madison County, Florida on March 16, 1943, to Carnie Lee and Flossie (Tuten) Provau. Mrs. Phillips had been a Baker County resident since moving from Maxville in 1992. She retired after 30 years of service with the school system. She started out working in the Duval County School Cafeterias and ended her career as a school bus driver and trainer with the Baker County School District. Vonnie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who loved God and her family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Maxville and enjoyed gardening in her flower bed.
Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 58 years, David D. Phillips; and brother, Bennie Provau.
Survivors include her son, Stephen D. Phillips of Jacksonville; daughters, Kathy Padgett (Randy) of Middleburg, Vicki A. Prevatt (Michael) of Glen St. Mary, and Amy L. Foley (Robert) of Taylor; brother, Ernie Provau (Peggy) of Seville; sisters, Minnie Gross (Don) of Jacksonville and Barbara Lipps (Danny) of New Symrna, Tennessee; grandchildren, Lisa (Bobby), Tina (Jeremy), Brandon, Michaela, Dalton (Katelyn), Mendle, and Nicholas; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 7, 2021, at First Baptist Church of Maxville with Pastor Richard Fish officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
