Thomas "Mickey" Mixon Jr. Obituary

Thomas J. “Mickey” Mixon, age 63, a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away at home on Saturday, October 9, 2021, with his family by his side. He was born on December 27, 1957, in Jacksonville to Thomas J. Sr. and Janet M. (Noles) Mixon.
Mickey was a Southern Gospel singer, songwriter, musician, vocal coach, and teacher. He had a heart for people who loved Southern Gospel music and particularly those who write the Gospel in song. Mickey took this passion and in June 1999, he created GospelSongwriter.com, a website that was designed to connect songwriters with singers looking for songs to sing as well as songwriting education.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Tracy Noles; and brother, Paul Noles.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 43 years, Rainie Mixon; step-mother Betty Mixon; brothers, “Tim” Darvin Mixon (Deneese) and Ray Mixon (Jennifer); sisters, Debbie Padgett (R.D.), Lanette Goodin (Buddy), Lisa Cook (Hugh), Kathy Mixon, Kimberly Reaves, Kristina Kirkland, and Margaret Mixon; 13 godchildren and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
His Goodbye Celebration will be Saturday, October 23, 2021, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the Garden City Church of God, 10765 Lem Turner Rd, Jacksonville FL 32218. It will begin with a Gospel Sing featuring those who knew him best celebrating his life and love of Southern Gospel Music and it will be concluded with dinner on the grounds.
Two things he loved the most, singing and eating. All are invited and please feel free to bring a covered dish if you like.
