Ms. Tena Cannon Cashmore, age 59, a lifelong resident of Live Oak, Florida, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, August 27, 2021. She was born on March 29, 1962, in Live Oak to James David Cannon and Carol Marie (Smith).
Tena was a beloved mother, Memaw, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.
She was a proud veteran of the US Marine Corps and served a tour in Okinawa, Japan. She earned several decorations while serving, but she was most proud of her Rifle Marksman Badge.
Tena was a cook at Waffle House for many years. She enjoyed watching football, cheering for her Florida Gators, fishing, cooking, watching TV, and riding dirt roads. She loved her cats, spending time with her family, and spoiling her grandbabies.
Tena is survived by her daughters, Jessica Lothel Scott (Stephen) of Lake City, and Sheila Marie Cashmore of Branford; father, James “Jimmy” Cannon (Donna) of Salem; mother, Marie Kent (Jeff) of Branford; sisters, Tammy Lee of McAlpin, Tonya Lee (Frank) of Live Oak, Shuandra Perbtani of Live Oak, and Carol Samano of Texas; brothers, Davy Cannon (Pam) of Salem, and Kim Warren (Terrie) of Jasper; grandchildren, Grace-Lynn Giddens, Steven “SJ” Giddens III, and Shawn Scott; along with nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at Friendship Baptist Church, 14634 140th Street, Live Oak, Florida 32060 with Brother Davy Cannon officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Historic Dowling Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
