Sara "Peanut" Nell Thrift, age 73, of Macclenny, Florida, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022, at Shands UF Jacksonville. She was born on July 6, 1948, in Jacksonville to William Howard and Lillie Mae (Lacquey) Goff. Sara had lived in Baker County for the past 35 years. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who enjoyed fishing, eating seafood, tending her garden, but most of her time was devoted to the love and care of her grandchildren.
Sara was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Alice Gail Lloyd and Moddy Gay Webster. Survivors include her sons, Buddy Sanders (Renee) of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Otis Sanders (Amanda) of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Rusty Humphries (CeCe) of Suisun, California; daughters, Missie Wilkerson (George) of Macclenny and Teresa Harris of Jacksonville; sister, Betty Sue Stalnaker (Earl) of Glen St. Mary; 14 grandchildren; a bunch of great-grandchildren; and a few nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 14, 2022, at Blackburn-Curry Funeral Chapel. A Gathering with the family will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
