SPC Ashley Nicole Padgett, United States Army, age 31, of Middleburg, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 19, 2022, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born on November 9, 1990, in Jacksonville to Teresa and Johnny Padgett.
Ashley was a 2009 graduate of Middleburg High School. She drove a school bus and was Driver of the Year before entering the military. A wonderful daughter, sister, and friend, Ashley was studying at Grand Canyon University in Colorado as she served in the United States Army. SPC Padgett spent 3 years in Germany before moving to her current duty station in Colorado Springs.
She was preceded in death by her father, Johnny Padgett. Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Teresa and Lynn Johns of Maxville; brother, Brian Padgett of Tennessee; sisters, Kristy Godwin (Rob) of Maxville, Terri Mixon (Jason) of Jacksonville, and Amanda Johns of Middleburg; grandmother, Gloria Godwin of Maxville; uncle, Frankie Capps (Jeannie) of Jacksonville; aunt, Renae Capps (Donnie Owens) of North Carolina; best friend, Bobby Hatcher of Middleburg; canine babies, Molly and Zoey; along with many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at Long Branch Baptist Church with Pastor Dalton Kilpatrick officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Long Branch Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
