Mr. Roy Waters, Sr., age 87, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2019, at the Community Hospice Center for Caring at St. Vincent’s Riverside after a long battle with cancer. Roy was born in Du Pont, Georgia, the son of Buddy and Dorothy (Driggers) Waters but has been a lifelong resident of Maxville, Florida. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. Roy was a Master Printer with Ambrose Printing and at one time and only one of eleven Master Printers in the state. Most important to his family, is that Mr. Roy was a man of faith, honesty, and integrity.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jack, John, Roger, James, and Billy Waters; and sister, Margie Stanley.
Survivors include his sons, Roy Waters, Jr. of Florahome, FL and Mitch Waters of Macclenny, FL; daughter, Gwynn Saunders (Vernon) of Mandarin, FL; brother, Ed Waters (Mary) of Maxville, FL; sisters, Shirley Robertson of Lake City, FL and Linda Norman (Richard) of Highland, FL; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at the First Baptist Church of Maxville with Pastor Richard Fish officiating. Interment will follow in Long Branch Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be held Tuesday evening, August 6, 2019, at the church from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
