Richard Wayne Griffin, age 51, of Dale, Texas, formerly of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on August 29, 2023, in Texas. He was born to Joseph Wayne Griffin and Ellen Marie Griffin on November 21, 1971, in Jacksonville, Florida. After receiving his high school diploma while attending Wolfson High School, Richard joined the U.S. Army. He was stationed around the globe, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant, and provided 8 years of faithful and honorable service. Richard is a member of the Griffin family’s fourth uninterrupted generation who has honorably served in the U.S. military. He is a great credit to his family and this struggling nation.
Richard was a very active man and spent some time in New Jersey also, but had lived the last 12 years in Texas. He was an electrician and computer technician by trade and loved racing matchbox cars and firearms. Richard was always enthusiastic, argumentative, and aspired for greater things.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Wayne Griffin. Survivors include his grandmother, Joyce Griffin; brother, Matthew Griffin, and his wife, Ashton Norman Griffin; sister, Patricia Griffin; stepmother, Beatrice Griffin; aunt, Jolene Kirkland; uncle, Steve Griffin; along with numerous other family members and friends.
Richard’s cremated remains will be interred alongside his father in Woodlawn Cemetery in Macclenny, Florida, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2023.
