Philip Lloyd Hunt, age 64, of Jacksonville, Florida, entered his heavenly home on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, after a brief illness at St. Vincent’s Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born on December 6, 1958, in Lumberton, North Carolina, to Estelle Oxendine and Joseph Hunt and has called Jacksonville home for the past 26 years.
Phil was a devoted husband, father, and PawPaw. He was incredibly likable due to his friendliness and easygoing nature. Phil was always willing to help someone in need and lived faithfully to being in the will of his Heavenly Father.
Philip worked as an over the road truck driver, where it wasn’t just a job to him, but it was his passion! He has driven close to three million miles over the last 38 years in all fifty states.
Often times when Phil was home, you would find him relaxing in “his chair” watching tv or a movie and flipping back and forth to cheer on the Jacksonville Jaguars or the Florida Gators! Phil loved spending time with his family, whether that was hanging out at home, going out for dinner, or enjoying a boat ride on the water.
Philip was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Joseph; sister, Valery; and his son, Michael Phillip Hunt. Survivors include his precious wife of 38 years, Machell Rena Hunt; daughter, Rachael Hautau (Jesse); sons, Johnathan Hunt and Adam Hunt; sister, JoAnn Willingham; grandchild, Garrison Hautau; his devoted dogs, Tiny and Bear; and numerous family friends.
Celebration of Life arrangements for Phil will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at GardenView Baptist Church, 3139 Armsdale Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32218, with Pastor Jason Reid officiating and Jeffery Ray assisting.
Arrangements entrusted to the care of BLACKBURN-CURRY FUNERAL & CREMATION, 380 N. Lowder Street, Macclenny, Florida 32063. (904) 259-2806. Please share your condolences with the Hunt family online at www.blackburncurryfh.com
