Obituary

We regretfully announce the passing of Matthew John Nolan, who passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday, August 16, 2023. Matthew, age 68, was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Florida.
Matthew attended Paxon High School, where he played football. Matthew was a plumber by trade, and after retiring, he went into security. But the joy of his life was Florida Gators Football. Having season tickets, Matthew enjoyed attending the games with his brother and nephews at the SWAMP! Matthew may have had some struggles but lived life to the fullest. He had a memory like a photocopier. Every game in Gator history was etched in his mind. He made everyone who knew him laugh, cry, and clap at all the stories he shared. If you needed to know a score, a date, or a player’s position, Matthew was truly the 12th man!
He was predeceased by his parents, Buck L. Nolan and Helen Howard; and his siblings, Lester Nolan, Carol Nolan, and Gary Wayne Nolan Sr. He is survived by his sister, Marsha Nolan Butler (Mitchell, Sr.), and many nephews, nieces, cousins and countless friends.
Our family is grateful to know that Matthew is finally at peace.
Private family services will be held.
