Mary Alice Wellhausen, age 74, of Maxville, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville. She was born in Jacksonville on January 4, 1948, to Wesley Lavelle and Mary Elizabeth (Belflower) Thomas and had lived in Maxville for the past 60 years. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother that enjoyed being outside doing yard work, gardening, and digging ditches. The greatest joy in her life was her family, especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, George Thomas; and sister, Norah Miller.
Survivors include her daughters, Eugenia Wellhausen (Steve) and Sheila Suggs, both of Maxville; son, Charles Wellhausen II (Rachel) of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren, Christopher Wellhausen (Courtney), Joshua Wellhausen (Brianna Criswell), Lauren Suggs (Colin Selby), Logan Wellhausen, Chrystlynn Wellhausen, Alyssandra Wellhausen; great-grandchildren, Conor, Hunter, Chalynn, Chloe, and Chaplin; along with other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, March 14, 2022, at Blackburn-Curry Funeral Chapel with Pastor Richard Fish officiating. Interment will follow in Long Branch Cemetery in Maxville. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
