Lucille "Granny" Bell

Lucille “Granny” Bell, born August 13, 1929, went home to be with Jesus, just two months shy of her 90th Birthday, on Wednesday, June 5, 2019. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, James “JD” Bell; and her parents, Randall “Bud” Harris, and Gressie Higginbotham Harris. She is survived by her two children: daughter, Joan (Tommy) Hendrix and son, Harold Bell; 9 grandchildren: Paula Warren, Pam (Grady) Padgett, Tricia (Jimmy) Thoren, Nikki Jones, TG Hendrix, Randall Bell, Denise (Will) Scaife, Randy (Denise) Byrd, and Dewey Byrd; 22 great-grandchildren: Zachary Padgett, Dylan (Abagail) Padgett, Jake Warren, Alexis Warren, Taylor Thomas, Ethan Thoren, Olivia Thoren, Gavin Jones, Shaylen Byrd, Lucy Jones, Ava Thoren, Cameron Byrd, Chloe Scaife, Peyton Byrd, Emma Thoren, Parker Byrd, Oliver Scaife, Jase Parrish, Brooklyn Byrd, Beau Scaife, Isla Thoren, and Magnolia Scaife; one great-great-granddaughter, Carlee Warren; and countless others she adopted into her family to be known as their Granny Bell.
Granny was a lifelong resident of Maxville, Florida, and a member of Long Branch Baptist Church. She worked for many years at her Daddy's store, Harris Grocery Store. She was known for her beautiful smile, wonderful cooking, and welcoming heart. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, keeping a clean house, and clipping coupons, but her greatest loves were her Savior and her beloved family. Everyone was welcomed into her home with a warm smile and the offering of a generous plate of food. She loved through her selfless hospitality and giving spirit, always putting others needs before her own. She was the Matriarch of our family, her home, the gathering place of every holiday. She was our beloved Mama and Granny, and a friend to many and will be forever missed until our reunion in glory. Precious in the sight of the Lord, is the death of His saints. Psalm 116:15.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 pm on Sunday, June 9, 2019, at Long Branch Baptist Church in Maxville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, June 10, 2019, at Long Branch Baptist Church with Pastor William McLeod and Pastor Harry Conaway officiating. Burial in Long Branch Cemetery will follow.
