Larry P. Caldwell Sr., age 71, of Maxville, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at St. Vincent’s Clay County. Larry was born in Jacksonville, Florida, the son of Clifton and Eunice (Mobley) Caldwell. Larry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a very unique character with a great sense of humor, a Florida Gator to the core, and a Jack of All Trades. He served faithfully and honorably with the United States Army during the Vietnam War, was wounded in combat, and received a Purple Heart for his injuries. At home, his greatest joy was the love and time he shared with his grandchildren.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his devoted wife of 52 years, Candice (Cain) Caldwell; sons, Larry P. Caldwell Jr. and Steve Caldwell (Veronica) both of Maxville; brothers, Donald Caldwell of Middleburg and Kenny Caldwell of Woodbine, Georgia; sisters, Gail Callaway, Sandra Johnson (David) both of Jacksonville, Beverly Martinez (Ray) of Glen St. Mary, Kimberly Castaneda (Gabriel) of Orange Park, and Linda Crews (Ronnie) of Steinhatchee; grandchildren, Lindsey and Patrick Caldwell and their mother, Kelli, Katherine and Benjamin Caldwell and their mother, Christie.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Jacksonville National Cemetery with honors on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, with lifelong friend, Larry Rhoden officiating.
