Kenneth A. Belangia, age 86, of Middleburg, Florida, passed away Monday, June 26, 2023, at Haven Hospice Custead Care Center after a courageous battle against cancer. He was born on Thursday, October 22, 1936, in Norfolk, Virginia, to Doris Dean (Bassett) and Alson Bishop Belangia and had lived here in Middleburg for the past 25 years.
Mr. Belangia proudly served this nation in the United States Air Force. He went on to retire as a Lieutenant with the Virginia Beach Police Department after a long, distinguished career. Along the way, he was incredibly proud to be a graduate of the 96th Session of the FBI National Academy. Kenneth was a kind and guiding father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who put forth, with fierce dedication, his duty to family, community, and God. Ken was a longtime member of Orange Park Church of the Nazarene and will be deeply missed by his church family.
Survivors include his sons, Richard Belangia (Tricia) of Green Cove Springs and Mike Belangia (Valerie) of Syracuse, New York; brothers, Fred W. Bates (Carol) of Timberville, Virginia, and Tommy Belangia (Donnie) of Katy, Texas; sister, Patsy “PJ” Belangia-Patrick (Rob) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; grandchildren, Carolyn, Eric, Kristen, and Marissa; great-grandchildren, Cayleigh, Linnea, Isabella, and Bailey.
A graveside service with military honors for Mr. Belangia will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 7, 2023, at Jacksonville Memory Gardens with Pastor Crystal Riner officiating.
