June L. James, age 97, of Macclenny, Florida, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2022. She moved from Jacksonville to Baker County a little over a year ago to live with her son and his family. June was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She spent many a happy hour sewing. Her specialty was dolls and clothes. June was a self-taught oil painter and volunteered her time teaching painting at her church and nursing homes. She also taught water aerobics to senior citizens at her condo when she lived in Jacksonville.
June is preceded in death by her sons, Dennis James, and Leslie James; daughter, Kathy Peterson; parents; four brothers; and four sisters. Survivors include her son, Robert James (Carol) of Macclenny; sister, Vickie Koch of Goshen, Indiana; son-in-law, Ricky Peterson of Orange Park; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 10, 2022, at Blackburn-Curry Funeral Chapel with Reverend David Griffis officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
