Johnny Duane Paxton, age 68, of Glen St. Mary, Florida, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 1, 2024, at home under the care of Community Hospice. He was born in Jacksonville on September 18, 1955, to Juanita (Synder) and Bernard Eugene Paxton. After graduation, he proudly served in the United States Army for six years. Johnny was a member of Glen Baptist Church, and he loved the Lord, his family, and church family. He was a kind man who found joy in teaching and working. Johnny was a Master Plumber and taught at Florida Community College of Jacksonville, Downtown and Kent Campus, for over twenty years. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
Johnny is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robby Eugene Paxton. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of fifty years, Patricia Anne (Burchfield) Paxton of Glen St. Mary; sons, Johnathan Neil Paxton (Michele) of Jacksonville and Charles "David" Paxton (Kim) of Glen St. Mary; daughters, Heather Nicole Rountree (Chris) of Glen St. Mary, Holly Joy Mossman (Tim) of Macclenny, and Julia Burchfield (Jamie) of Orange Park; brother, Robert Donald Paxton of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Douglas Pennington (Sarina), Jasmine Vermillion, Hannah Paxton, Hayden Paxton, Lucas Vermillion, Christian Paxton, Elisha Mossman, Gavin Rountree, and Chase Paxton; great-grandchildren Kai Jackson, Aurora Pennington and Eric Lauramore Jr.
A Celebration of Mr. Paxton’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Glen Baptist Church with Dr. Chas Rowland officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Jacksonville National Cemetery at a later date.
