Mr. James William Burnett, age 65, of Taylor, Florida, passed away at his home on Saturday, February 13, 2021, after an extended illness. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida, to Leonard and Elizabeth V. (Morris) Burnett and had lived in Baker County for the past 39 years. James was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He was a Florida Gator, Jack of all Trades guy that absolutely loved fishing, adored his grandchildren, and enjoyed hanging out with his two best friends with four legs, his dogs, Little Bit and Miracle.
James was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Gerald and David Thompson; and his daughter, Jessica Burnett.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Dana Renee Kerce Burnett of Taylor; son, Travis Burnett (Meredith) of Ohio; daughters, Wendy L. Burnett of Jacksonville, Jamie Doyle Burnett (Jake) of Taylor, and Brittany Burnett (Matt) of Jacksonville; sister, Jessie Joyce (Karl) of Glen St. Mary; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; along with other family members and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2021, at Blackburn-Curry Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bobby Griffin officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
