Mr. Gerald Lamar Davis, age 51, of Taylor, Florida, passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2021, at Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. He was born on February 2, 1970, in Gainesville, Florida, to J.R. and Clarice (Hodges) Davis. Mr. Davis had been a lifelong resident of Baker County. He was a master mechanic and was proud to have taught his son everything he knew about rebuilding engines. Gerald loved being outdoors, in the woods, either hunting or fishing. Though he was a homebody, his passion was his family, especially his grandkids. Gerald was a loving companion, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wendell Davis and James “Peewee” Davis; and grandparents, Katie and Russell Hodges. Gerald is survived by the devoted love of his life, Susan Brown; children, Tiffany Davis, Katie Davis, and Gerald Davis Jr.; brothers, Larry Davis and Ronnie Davis; sisters, Wanda Blackburn, Robin Collins, Regina Wheeler, Kathy Mette, Darlene Johnson, and Carol Simmons; grandchildren, Harlie Rumsey, Tony Forist Jr. (Cricket), Langston Davis, and Bryer Forist; along with several nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at Blackburn-Curry Funeral Chapel with Pastor Albert Starling officiating. Interment in Macedonia Cemetery will follow. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
