Mr. Elijah “Billy” Padgett, age 76, a lifelong resident of Maxville, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at St. Vincent’s Clay County. He was born in Clay County to Elwood and Kathleen (Mosley) Padgett. Billy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing, and he loved the Lord. He will be forever missed by his loving family and all who knew him.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Vollie B. Padgett and John E. Padgett. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Betty J. Padgett of Maxville; son, Billy Padgett (Sara) of Brooker; daughter, Leann Wilber (Clay) of Middleburg; grandchildren, Bucky, T.J., Jamie, Devon, Jared, Peyton, and Sarah Gayle; 8 great-grandchildren; along with nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 20, 2021, at Long Branch Baptist Church with Pastor Harry Conaway officiating. Interment in Long Branch Cemetery will follow. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
