Derek Edward Buben

Derek Edward Buben, age 29, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 7, 2021. Derek was born in Meridian, Mississippi to Sean and Denora (Juarez) Buben and lived most of his life in Jacksonville. He was a loving father, son, brother, and friend who enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and all things music. Derek was blessed with an outgoing personality, a warm, welcoming smile, and a contagious laugh. He would give you the shirt off his back, and if he called you a friend, you were a friend for life.

Derek is survived by his daughter, Madelyn Cabrera; his first love, Sheila Cabrera; parents, Sean and Denora Buben; sisters, Ashley Ehlers (William) and Erika Perez (Mark); niece, Camila Perez; nephew, Giovanni Perez; grandmother, Jewel Buben; and great-grandmother, Rose Magness.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at Hope Baptist Church, 826 Reynolds Lane, Jacksonville, Florida 32254. Friends are invited to share their memories of Derek with his family during the visitation from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
