Mrs. Dera “Tish” Hubbell Ponsell, age 79, of Macclenny, Florida, passed away at her home surrounded by her beloved family on Sunday, June 27, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on August 27, 1941, in Inglewood, California, to Reverend Ralph Melvin and Dera Ann (Law) Hubbell. Tish was raised in Los Angeles until the age of 17 and moved with her parents and siblings to Miami, Florida. From Miami, she made her way to Jacksonville where she met and married her husband, Harold, in 1995. They lived in Jacksonville until moving to Macclenny in 2017.
Tish was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Ralph Hubbell and John Hubbell. She is survived by her devoted husband of 25 years, Raymond Harold Ponsell of Macclenny; children, Pastor Melvin Rodriguez (Sandra) of New Smyrna Beach, Steven Midyette of Jacksonville, Jeremy Cochran of Middleburg, Susan Ponsell of Colton, California, and Casee Barber of Land O’Lakes; grandchildren, Nathan Rodriquez, Megan Rodriquez, Amber Midyette Villar, Brittney Midyette, Brianna Midyette, Brooklyn Midyette, Kaleb Cochran, Peyton Cochran, Tristan Barber, and Kiera Barber; numerous great-grandchildren; along with many other family members and friends.
A Celebration of Tish’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at Blackburn-Curry Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mel Rodriquez officiating. Interment in Jacksonville National Cemetery will follow at 2:30 p.m.
