Mrs. Deborah Marie Howell, age 68, a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Debbie was born in Jacksonville on October 9, 1953, to Darnell and Bereniece (Simmons) Harris.
She was an outgoing and affable soul who enjoyed ocean fishing with her boyfriend Johnny Robinson, collecting angel figurines, her dogs, her coffee, and karaoke singing with her best friend, Janie Wallis. Debbie was a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister who loved caring for her family but devoted her life to the service of Christ through singing with the Hearts of Praise Gospel group.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, William R. Harris; sister, Carol Johnston; and her beloved husband of 27 years, Troy R. Howell.
Survivors include her son, Eddie Wilder (Denise) of Nashville, Tennessee; daughter, Tammy M. Nelson of Martinsburg, West Virginia; brother, Buddy Harris (Nancy) of Jacksonville; sisters, Barbara Bremer (Dick) of Atlanta, Georgia, and Jenny Evans (Jay) of St. Johns; grandchildren, Alyssa, Brianna, Riley, Tristyn, Ethan, Tori, and Kristin; great-grandchild, Tahlon; along with numerous other family members and friends.
Debbie will be laid to rest with her husband at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, November 1, 2021, at Jacksonville National Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends after the graveside services at the Howell Family home, 1314 Cedar Bay Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
