David Lee Whitehead, age 58, of Lawtey, Florida, left us all too soon on Monday, September 27, 2021, at North Florida Regional Hospital in Gainesville after an extended illness. David was born in Macclenny to Leland A. and Bernice Jean (Raulerson) Whitehead. He served our nation proudly as a member of the United States Marine Corps. Afterward, he joined the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. David was currently a Plant Engineer with Burris Logistics Shipping Company in Jacksonville. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed being out in nature, whether hiking the Appalachian Trail, camping at Ocean Pond, or the feeling of the wind across his face while riding his Goldwing down the road. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, David cherished his family above everything else. He will be deeply missed by those whose lives he touched during his lifetime.
David was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Chicago Mullin.
