Mr. Daniel Wilson Teller, age 39, of Orange Park, Florida, passed away peacefully with his parents at his side on Saturday, November 14, 2020, at the Haven Hospice Custead Care Center in Orange Park. Daniel was born in Orange Park on June 30, 1981, to Wilson E. and Brenda Gail (Wilson) Teller. Affectionally referred to as “Big Dan," he will be remembered for his love of people, music, and his beautiful mind. He was a history buff, World War II aficionado, science nerd, philosopher, and cat lover. An accomplished musician, songwriter, and guitar player, Daniel was a member of three bands that played in the Jacksonville area; Entropy, Trench Poets, and most recently Pawn Takes King. He worked with his family at Fleming Island Auto Body, and his love for music led him to begin his own business, Laureate Sound. He worked at many musical establishments in the area from sales to sound technician. He enjoyed his work in academia at FSCJ where he tutored math and UNF where he worked as a stagehand and sound engineer. He graduated from Orange Park High School in 1999 and went on to study physics at St. Johns Community College, FSCJ, and UNF. Daniel was loved by many and his legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of all that knew him. He is survived by his parents, Wilson Edward Teller and Brenda Gail (Wilson) Teller of Orange Park; his siblings, Edward Michael Teller (Sonya) of Orange Park and Ann Teller Walsh (Carl) of Macclenny; his nephews, Michael Gage Teller and William Edward Teller; his nieces, Ashley Teller Collins (Jordan), and Jasmine Nicole Teller; a host of cousins, aunts, and uncles; and his beloved feline companion, Hedy. He is predeceased by his grandparents, Woodrow Wilson Teller (Mildred) and OC Wilson (Eleanor).
A Celebration of Dan's Life will be held on Sunday, November 29, 2020. It will start at Stockton Park in Jacksonville, Florida at 3:00 p.m. with kite flying and togetherness. This gives an opportunity for those that are at high risk for COVID to participate and anyone else that finds comfort in the outdoors. Bring a blanket or a chair and snacks if you want. If you want to bring a covered dish to share we will have a table for some food and an opportunity to share thoughts and memories about Dan. The celebration will move on to the Eclipse (4219 St. Johns Ave.) to gather immediately after that. There will be a time for open mic and opportunities to share followed by more music. If you would like to bring a covered dish, there will be tables set up. Come to one or come to both, whatever feels right to you. The family does ask that masks are worn when indoors or unable to practice social distancing.
We have had an outpouring of kindness and generosity from those that knew Dan well, which is extremely meaningful in this time of great sorrow. It helps us to remember the good times.
Stay strong, love one another and remember all of the special moments in life.
