Daniel Lamoreux Obituary

Daniel David Lamoreux, age 63, walked into the arms of his Savior early Saturday morning, April 23, 2022, serenaded by his wife, whom he affectionately referred to as his “missing rib” and son, Evan. He faced death from esophageal cancer drawing upon the same source of faith, hope, and strength that carried him through life—Jesus Christ. He was born on February 5, 1959, in Freeport, Illinois, the oldest of five siblings. He lived a life full of accomplishments and failure—heartache and triumph.
After graduating from Dakota High School in 1977, he began a career in public service as an EMT and then, law enforcement. His fearless leadership, bravery, and acute intuition earned him many accolades and awards for his work in the trenches of investigation in the greater Chicago area. In the mid-80s, he took a position as the Chief of Police in Big Piney, Wyoming. He spent more than 30 years living and working in western Wyoming, relishing the awe-inspiring creation of the Master Creator. He was an avid outdoorsman and writer, with over 350 articles and as many photographs published in more than 40 state, regional, and national publications, as well as the author and co-author of several books, and the board game, Master Hunter. Although he enjoyed hunting and has several trophies to show for it, the hunts he enjoyed most were the ones from behind the lens of his camera.
In the summer of 2017, he moved to Jacksonville, FL, with his family. Over the next several years, Dan saw the direction of his life shift from the pursuit of the idols of his heart to the pursuit of serving the only One worthy of the worship of his heart, Jesus Christ. He attended First Baptist Church Jacksonville and served in many capacities, including men’s discipleship, Guest Services, and Student Ministries. He ended his career as the Director of Facilities and Operations for the church, where all his life experience and God-given talent for project and crisis management were put to good use.
Dan is survived by his wife, Christine; daughter, Jaime Niedermeier; son, Joshua Niedermeier; son, Justin Lamoreux; stepson, Evan Adshade; mother, Barbara Anderson; sister, Denise Clenney (Mike); brother, Doug Lamoreux; brother, Mitch Lamoreux (Carla); sister, Christina Hetzler (Mike); granddaughter, Frankie Niedermeier; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Dan is preceded in death by his father, Dennis Lamoreux; his stepmom, Bev Lamoreux; his stepbrother, Todd Peck; and his brother, Shawn Lamoreux; and grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2022, in the Lindsay Memorial Auditorium at First Baptist Church in Downtown Jacksonville with Dr. Heath Lambert and Pastor Coty Hoskins officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment at Oaklawn Cemetery in Jacksonville will follow at 2:30 p.m.
