Curtis "Bute" Gene Bennett Jr., age 57, of Macclenny, Florida, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, December 30, 2021. He was born on October 12, 1964, in Gainesville to Curtis G. and Imogene (Thomas) Bennett and had lived all his life in Baker County.
Bute had a big heart that was always welcoming to friends and family. He was a caring father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Bute was an honest man that worked hard his whole life doing construction and had a mindset of making a simple, honest living. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and playing the banjo. But, Bute loved junking, antiquing, and playing with his grandchildren the most.
Bute was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Danny Bennett. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Starling Bennett; son, Curtis G. Bennett, III (Candy) of Glen St. Mary; daughter, Caroline R. Bennett (Ralph); brothers, David Cross of Taylor, Timmy Bennett (Tina) of Taylor, and Mark Bennett of Glen St. Mary; sister, Ginny Bennett-Prevatt of Starke; grandchildren, Brooke, Earl, Riley, Abigail, Jace, Body, and Amelia; great-grandchild, Addy; along with other family members and friends.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2022, in North Prong Cemetery with Pastor Oscar Thomas officiating. Time with friends will be held one hour prior to services at the cemetery.
