Carol Marie Smith Kent, age 78, of Branford, Florida, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2023, at UF Shands in Gainesville after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving husband and two daughters. She was born on December 27, 1944, in Jasper, Florida, to Ruby Lothelle (Hester) and James Wilder “JW” Smith. She was of the Baptist faith.
Marie enjoyed baking, cooking, canning, and sharing out of her kitchen with her friends. She was very crafty, loved shopping, and filled her time with crocheting and watching tv. Marie also loved listening to music and dancing. She had been known to cut a rug.
Marie had been a Mary Kay consultant for 33 years. She was a Pioneer, Golden Rule Achiever, Star Consultant, and was Power of Pink Achiever several times last year.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Tena Cannon Cashmore; grandson, David Lee; and sister, Jeraldine Morris. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Charles Jeffery “Jeff” Kent of Branford; daughters, Tammy Lee of McAlpin and Tonya Lee (Frank) of Live Oak; brothers, James “Jim” Smith of Jasper, Edward “Eddie” Smith (Debbie) of St. Augustine, and Henry Phillips (Susan) of Madison; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; fur babies, Misty and Max; along with nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Friendship Baptist Church, 14634 140th Street, Live Oak, Florida 32060, with Brother Davy Cannon officiating. Interment will follow in the Historical Dowling Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
