Brian Richard Johnson, age 64, of Baldwin, Florida, passed away quietly on Monday, April 15, 2024, at his home with his wife by his side. He was born on November 7, 1959, in Detroit, Michigan, one of nine children adopted by Richard F. and Elaine D. (Harnish) Johnson. Brian graduated high school and joined the United States Navy, where he served this nation faithfully for 20 years. Afterward, he transitioned to civil service at the Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base and has since retired. Brian was a caring, hardworking husband, father, and grandfather who held two things most dear in his life: loving his wonderful family and his devout dedication to the service of his country.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his precious wife of 37 years, Pamela Johnson of Baldwin; sons, Brian E. Smalling of Middleburg, Scott Johnson (Shelby) of Austin, Texas, and Charles Johnson of Baldwin; daughter, Blaire Harris (Mathew) of Macclenny; brothers, Marty Johnson (Jeanette), Tony Johnson (Amy), Chris Johnson, all of the Tampa area, Michael Bogart and Marty Bogart, of California; sisters, Sharon Johnson, Cindy Johnson, Joanne Connell (Michael), Robin Johnson, all of the Tampa area; grandchildren, Emma, Lauren, Bryce, Mason, Myles, Sawyer, Elyas, Nikolai, and Sophie.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, in the chapel of Blackburn-Curry Funeral Home. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Jacksonville National Cemetery (Lane 1), with military honors. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
