Billy Carrol Tanner

Billy Carrol Tanner, age 71, of Jasper, Florida, passed away at his home on Thursday, May 12, 2022, surrounded by his beloved family. He was born in Homerville, Georgia, on September 28, 1950, to Lester H. and Jeanette (Gill) Tanner and had lived his whole life in Hamilton County. Mr. Tanner retired from the City of Jasper after 30 plus years having worked in various positions such as volunteer firefighter, police dispatcher, and animal control officer. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His hobbies included hunting and fishing, but he also enjoyed spoiling his grand and great-grandbabies.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Hillard Tanner, Trenton Tanner, and Sammy Tanner; and sisters, Faye Boyd and Maria Batz. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Linda L. Tanner; sons, Billy H. Tanner (Michelle) and Bobby Land; daughters, Loretta Taylor (Chris), Chasity Padgett (Richard), and Leanne Starling (Mike); brothers, ED Tanner and Roger “Gator” Tanner; sisters, Sandra Streat, Frances Thornton, and Betty Jo Hodges; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
A Celebration of Billy’s Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at the Tanner Family home in Jasper.
