Mr. Albert Johns, age 70, of Glen St. Mary, Florida, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2021, after a long battle with health issues at UF Health Shands in Gainesville. He was born on April 5, 1951, in Providence, Florida, to Lizzie (Brannen) and Marvin William Johns, Sr.
Mr. Johns was raised in Olustee and was a veteran of the US Marine Corps, having served from 1969-1975 as a rifleman. He was an active member of Mt. Zion Church until the pandemic in 2020.
His hobbies were maintaining and mowing his yard, relaxing in his recliner, watching TV, swinging on the front porch, and waving at everyone in their cars as they drove by.
Albert was a very loving, giving, and selfless man. He would give to others and do without himself. In his younger years, he loved to take his boys fishing and hunting. Albert also loved watching people. More than anything, he was a loving husband, Dad, and Papa. He loved his family and grandchildren more than life itself. Albert was Holiness by faith. He loved going to church and worshipping God with all his heart. His heart was bigger than himself. Albert wanted his family and friends to know he loved them very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Marvin William Johns, Jr., Raymond Johns, Marcus Wayne Johns, Harley Johns, and Billy Johns; sisters, Mary Lee Taylor, Betty Jean Hodges, and Cora Lee Hadley; son, Michael Romulus Johns; and grandson, Michael Lee Johns.
Albert is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Frances Marie Johns of Glen St. Mary; sons, Justin Johns (Stephanie) of Macclenny, and Dayle Johns (Amie) of Satsuma; daughters, Michelle Ventura Sorto (Jose) of North Carolina, and Porsha Vaughn (Chris) of Center Ridge, Arkansas; brother, Oscar Johns (Susan); sister, Gladys Pierce; grandchildren, Valerie Jenkins, Johnathan Cain, Joshua Cain, Tiffany Alfred, Samantha Johns, Samuel Johns, Sunnie Johns, ShiAnn Johns, Aaliyah Johns, Serenity Vaughn, and Lorelai Vaughn; step-grandchildren, Tyler Seitz (Christina), Jarett Seitz (CJ), Dalton Seitz, Keegan Ferguson (Elizabeth), and Dawson Ferguson; 13 great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Ernestine Ingram; sister-in-law, Wilma Jo McAllister (Shawn); brother-in-law, Charles Ingram; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
