Willie G. Stubbs, age 80, of Maxville, Florida, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at his home with his family watching over him. He was born in Jacksonville on November 28, 1944, to Pearl Rebecca (Lyons) and Harrell Wayne Stubbs and had lived in Maxville his entire life. Mr. Stubbs was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle who loved being outside fishing and working in his shop. He adored his grandchildren and spent time with them as much as possible. Willie was a longtime member of Maxville Baptist Church and enjoyed driving the church bus. He loved his community and served as a Volunteer Firefighter for Station 43. Mr. Stubbs was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marlene Guthrie, Reece Sirmon, and Alice Cannon; and son, Timothy Stubbs. Survivors include his devoted wife of 60 years, Wanda Sue Stubbs; daughter, Valerie "Missy" Criswell; son, Larry "Chris" Stubbs; brother, Wayne Stubbs; sisters, Lawanna Gordon and Annette Cowart; grandchildren, Brianna Wellhausen (Josh), Ashlyn Nipper (Josh), David Criswell, Dakotah, Adreanna, Krislyn, Whitne, and Stella; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Chloe, Lilly, Waylon, Grady, Braxton, and Mason; along with several nieces, nephews, other family members, and church family. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Maxville Baptist Church with Reverend Richard Fish officiating. Interment will follow in Long Branch Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
