Obituary

Virginia “Ginger” Peek Willis, age 81, of Middleburg, Florida, passed away peacefully under the care of Community Hospice on Monday, October 4, 2026. She was born in Colquitt County, Georgia, on February 2, 1945, to Asylee and James Howell Peek.
Mrs. Willis was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. A member of Long Branch Baptist Church, she was a selfless caregiver who dedicated her life to serving the Lord and her family.
Ginger was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Wallace Peek and W.L. “Dub” Peek; sister, Geneva Bullard; son-in-law, Peter Fitzpatrick; and her beloved husband of 59 years, Johnny. She is survived by her loving daughters, Brenda W. Johns of Middleburg and Teresa Fitzpatrick of Piermont, New York; sister, Everlena Dell of New Bern, North Carolina; grandchildren, Jonathan, Mark, Liam, Ceili, Ashleigh (William), and Marlee (Brandon); great-grandchildren, Lily, Cora, Ruby, and Rhett; and sisters-in-law, Estelle Peek and Polly Peek.
A Celebration of Ginger’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2026, at Long Branch Baptist Church, with Pastor Harry Conaway and brother-in-law Tommy Willis officiating. 
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ginger's name to Long Branch Baptist Church, 5500 Long Branch Cemetery Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32234.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to the dedicated care of Blackburn-Curry Funeral and Cremation, 380 N. Lowder Street, Macclenny, Florida 32063. 904-259-2806.
