Tommy A. Brown Jr., aka “Coach Tommy”, age 62, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on March 28, 2026. He was born on January 6, 1964, in Wahiawa, Hawaii. He was the oldest of two children born to Mabel L. (Nahaku) aka “Mamasan”, and Tommy A. Brown Sr. aka “Papasan”.
Tommy had lived in Jacksonville for the past 45 years. Tommy was an amazing husband, father, Papa, and friend. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, Gatornational’s, hanging out with the family, and of course, rooting for the Florida Gators. His greatest passion, however, was spurring the development of young kids' minds and character through coaching softball and baseball. Coach Tommy has helped place a small brick in the foundation and growth of many children throughout the 35+ years of his coaching and mentoring.
Tommy was preceded in death by his sister, Sonya Brown, and his mother, Mabel L. Brown. Survivors include his dad, Tommy Brown Sr., beloved wife of 42 years, Michele Brown of Jacksonville; sons, Sebastian Perez-Brown (Alexandria) of Miami, and Justin Brown of Jacksonville; daughter, Kristin Brown (Chris Carroll) of Jacksonville; and 5 grandchildren, Leilani, Braxtynn, Kamila, Leilee, and Brenden-Kai.
A Celebration of Tommy’s Life will be held at 2:00 pm. on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at the Whitehouse Ballpark on General Avenue, weather permitting.
