Mr. Rex Allen Griffis, age 58, of Sanderson, Florida passed away at his home with his beloved family by his side on Saturday, June 29, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer. Allen was born in Jacksonville, Florida to Willie Griffis and the late Vonnie Jean (Russ) Griffis. Allen was a true family man, and he loved to work. He was lucky enough to combine those things with the family business of Griffis Family Logging and A&M Trucking. He was preceded in death by his mother. He is survived by his caring wife of 35 years, Mary Griffis of Sanderson, FL; son, Ryan Griffis (Jennifer) of Sanderson, FL; daughter, Sarah Griffis-Ventura (Robby) of Jacksonville, FL; brothers, Edward Griffis (Leona) of Macclenny, FL, Ray Griffis and Keith Griffis (Tabitha) of Sanderson, FL; sisters, Trishanne Heppner (Mike) and Debbie Smith (Max) of Lake City, FL, Penny Croft (Eddie) of Sanderson, FL; 4 grandchildren, Chloe, Erin, Sophia, and Serenity; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A Funeral Mass will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at St. Mary Mother of Mercy Catholic Church with Father Richard Rasch officiating. Interment will follow in Olustee Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Monday evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the church.
