Obituary

Peter Victor Jannotti, a devoted husband, loving father, proud Papa, and cherished friend, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, September 5, 2025. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and countless memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts, on October 21, 1944, to the late Peter and Ginger Jannotti, Pete graduated from Lee High School in 1964, where he enjoyed playing football and walking his high school sweetheart, Reda Parks, home from school. After graduation, he served in the Coast Guard Reserve before beginning a career in the elevator industry. Pete built a long and respected career as an elevator mechanic, dedicating 35 years of hard work before retiring in 2001. Pete was the definition of a family man. He shared 58 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Reda—his steadfast partner through every chapter of life. Together, they built a family he was endlessly proud of. He is survived by his wife, Reda; his sons, Peter (Cheryl) Jannotti and Shawn (Lisa) Jannotti; his daughter, Gina (Luke) Henry; his two treasured granddaughters, Reagan and Rylee Jannotti; his sisters, Pauline George and Francis Walker; along with many nieces and nephews. Pete was also preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen Collins. Outside of his deep devotion to family, Pete had a passion for bass fishing. He fished many tournaments over the years—even winning a boat. He especially enjoyed sharing his love of fishing with young people. He was proud to fish alongside his granddaughters in the Wolfson's Children's Hospital Lads & Lasses Tournament. Pete continued to fish throughout his retirement and was an active member of the Senior Bass Club of Jacksonville. In recent years, he took up woodworking and created many beautiful pieces for family and friends. Pete was a loyal friend who was always ready with advice—or a strong opinion on how things should be done. His quick wit, love of spirited debates with his daughter, and joy for traveling with Reda—especially to their beloved "Mountain House" in North Carolina—defined his warm and vibrant personality. Pete was a natural teacher and mentor, always willing to lend a hand and share his wisdom. His presence was larger than life, and his humor and heart left a lasting impression on everyone blessed enough to know him. The family is especially grateful for the seven days they spent together the week before his passing—a full, fun, and meaningful time in the mountains of North Carolina, now cherished even more deeply. Pete will be missed beyond words, but his spirit, lessons, and love will live on in his family and all who knew him. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Blackburn-Curry Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. in Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Boulevard in Jacksonville. In remembrance and honor of Pete Jannotti's life, charitable donations may be made to Save Rodman Reservoir, P.O. Box 740, Fort McCoy, Florida 32134, or online at www.rodmanreservoir.org/#donate.
