It is with great love and deep sorrow that we remember Patrick Joseph Salerno, 78, of Jacksonville, Florida, who moved on from this world with dignity and grace to be with his Lord and Savior on October 11th, 2025. He was born on September 26, 1947, in Jersey City, New Jersey. 
Patrick enlisted in the US Navy at age 17, served 3 years of active duty till he was honorably discharged. He served on the destroyer, USS King, in addition to other float details. He worked tenaciously and excelled at many jobs in his twenties, including construction and sales. He owned several furniture stores throughout the state of Michigan, and had various other businesses throughout his life.
Patrick was known for working hard and instilled this ethic in all of his children. He balanced this diligence with jokes and a sense of adventure and fun. He traveled the United States extensively, and eventually settled down with his family in Michigan, and then Florida.
He had a deep appreciation for art, music, and literature, especially arthouse films and the doo-wop music of his younger years. His Christian faith was central to his life, and he cherished time spent reading and reflecting on the Word of God. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures, including a cup of decaf coffee with cream from Dunkin’ Donuts, but nothing brought him greater happiness than being surrounded by his family.
A devoted Christian and spiritual leader, he inspired those around him with his faith, strength, and fortitude throughout life’s journey.
Patrick was preceded in death by his wife, Debbie, and seven siblings: Kevin, Ray, Clement, Kathy, Mimi, and David. His sister, Muriel, survived him by 65 days. He is survived by his children, Patrick J. Salerno Jr. (Cheryl), Carrie Cantrell (John), Carly Salerno, Joel Salerno, Anthony Salerno; grandchildren PJ, Valerie, Samantha, Kayden, and Bailee; and great-grandson Charlie.
