Naomi Allen Griffis, treasured wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and great-aunt, passed from this earth to her heavenly home on the morning of Monday, January 24, 2022, after a long-term illness. Mrs. Griffis was born in Withers, Georgia, on October 7, 1932, to Jessie and Mozelle Allen. She was the sixth of seven children. After marrying the love of her life, J.C. in 1951, she relocated to Jacksonville, where she was a longtime member of the Springfield Church of God and North Jacksonville Church of God. Mrs. Griffis was an exacting bookkeeper and worked for a number of banks and credit companies, but her true calling was that of homemaker and sacrificial caregiver. In addition to being a Southern culinary genius, she was an accomplished seamstress. And she always had a soft heart for hungry animals that showed up at her back door. Mrs. Griffis was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-four years, James "J.C." Griffis. Their union was exemplary in steadfastly honoring their marriage vows to love, honor, and cherish through any trial. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa O'Neal (Charles); son, Mark (Tasha); nieces, Vicki Tiller (Wallace) and Terri Williamson; grandchildren, Ashton, Katharine (Michael), Carson, Jack, Kristen (Benji), and Whitni (Shannon); and eight great-grandchildren. A private family service is planned.
