Michelle "Mitzi" Laurin Brooks, age 59, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at St. Vincent's Medical Center Riverside. She was born on March 20, 1962, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Jerry and Paula (Kline) Laurin. Mitzi and her husband, Danny, had lived in Baker County for several years before moving to Orange Park. She had recently moved to Jacksonville to be closer to her son. Mitzi was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed being outside. Some of her favorite activities included walking on the beach, feeling the sun on her face, and sitting on the front porch relaxing in the evening. Mitzi loved watching Florida Gator football, going out to eat, and most of all, spoiling her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her beloved husband of 34 years, Karl "Danny" Brooks Sr. Survivors include her son, Karl "D.J." Brooks II (Audra Putnal) of Jacksonville; daughter, Andrea Brooks Campbell of Jacksonville; brother, Jerry Laurin of Orange Park; sister, Sherri Laurin of Jacksonville; and several grandchildren. Mitzi will be laid to rest with her husband at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, in Jacksonville National Cemetery.
