Matthew Patrick Dugan III, age 76, of Macclenny, Florida, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on September 19, 1948, to Matthew Jr. and Viola Dugan. He was blessed to grow up alongside his three siblings, Pat (John), Emily (Denny), and Jim (Millie). He lived in Florida and Cincinnati, Ohio, growing up in the same neighborhood as his future wife. Matt was married to the love of his life, Jo Ann (Meade), for 54 years. While he served in the U.S. Navy for 22 ½ years, she was right by his side. They loved to travel and recently completed their U.S. journey of visiting all 50 states. He was always tinkering with the cars or some odd job around the house, but most of all spending time with family. He loved to speak about his military career and all of the places he had been throughout his service with the U. S. Navy. Matt would also talk about how he had to walk to school uphill both ways in the snow. He always had a joke and loved to make people laugh. Matt is survived by his beloved wife, Jo Ann. Together they have five children, Matt IV (Tracy), Michael (Mandi), Adam (Lisa), David (Heather), and Jodi; grandchildren, Jessie (Sam), Matthew V, Michael Jr, Marissa, Destiny (John), Lauren, David II, Ashlynn (Zayne), Aislan (Aaron), Benjamin, Nathan, Christopher, and Jeremy; great-grandchildren, Evan, Olivia, Aleiyha, Cooper, Parker, Oliver, and Brady; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Blackburn-Curry Funeral Chapel with Father Jim Meade officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Jacksonville National Cemetery (Lane 1), 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32218, with full military honors.
