Marvin Otis Canady, age 86, of Macclenny, Florida, passed away peacefully at home with family on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, following a battle with cancer.
Marvin was born in Baker County on September 15, 1940, to Otis and Mattie Canady. He attended Baker County High School and then was employed for thirty years with the Florida Department of Transportation, where he retired. After retirement, he followed in his Daddy’s footsteps acquiring his contractor’s license with which he bought, fixed up, and rented or sold homes.
Marvin was a simple man of few words. He worked hard and asked for little. He enjoyed a good Gator game, playing a friendly game of poker, shooting pool, and monthly Sunday dinners with the whole family.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sandra Mikell; brother-in-law, Gene Mikell; and grandson, Marcus Sharman. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jackie Canady; brothers, Bruce Canady and Wayne (Madeline) Canady; children, Stacey (Charlie) Sharman, Garold (Robin) Canady and Kristi (Jerry) Carter; grandchildren, Crystal (Joe) Cabral, Tanner (Macey) Sharman, Jarred (Jamie) Carter, Kameron (Elise) Carter, Blake (Julie) Roberts-Carter, Kristyn (Matt) West, and Blaine (Kaylee) Roberts. He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren, Isaac, Isabella, Angelina and Ian Cabral; Harper, Atlas and Alistair Sharman; Huntyr and Fyscher Carter; Milleigh and Crews Carter; Lane, Lily and Lincoln West; and Bellami Roberts-Carter. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2026, at Macedonia Cemetery with Reverend Elmer Crews officiating.
