Marcus "Markie" Gene Hodges, age 60, of Macclenny, Florida, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at his home. Born on November 24, 1965, in Glen Saint Mary, he was the beloved son of Rosetta (Thrift) and Ronald Gene Hodges. Marcus's greatest joy was his grandchildren. They were the center of his world, and he took immense pride in being their "Poppy." An avid gardener and a gifted fixer and collector of all things, Marcus could often be found working with his hands. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and was known for his playful nature, quick wit, and love of laughter. A devoted father and an extraordinary grandfather, he proudly carried the title of "the world's greatest Poppy." Marcus will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family will live on forever. Marcus was preceded in death by his father, Ronald "Gene" Hodges; brother, Jason "Jake" Lee Hodges; and son, Marcus "Shane" Hodges. He is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Tammy Harris Hodges; daughter, Brittany (Nicholas) Kincheloe; mother, Rosetta T. Hodges; sisters, Donnetta (Robert) Chambers and Brenda "Carrie" Lauramore; treasured grandchildren, Haven and Kyler Kincheloe; and loyal canine companion, A.J. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will forever hold him close in their hearts. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Christian Fellowship Temple with Pastor David Thomas and Pastor Timmy Thomas officiating. For the service, the family requests that you wear Marcus's favorite color, purple, if you can. Donations may be made on behalf of the family through the funeral home.
