Linda Diane Elder, age 76, of Macclenny, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, under the care of Community Hospice at St. Vincent's Riverside. She was born on October 11, 1947, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Peggy Sue (Farmer) and Ralph Tipton. Mrs. Elder gave her life to Jesus on June 27, 1981. She enjoyed attending Sunday services at Elevate Life Church in Macclenny with her daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Elder had moved to Baker County from Jacksonville in 2007. Mrs. Linda was a talented artist. Her favorite medium to use was paint. Linda also enjoyed going to the beach. That's where her beloved Bill took her on their last date together. Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Peggy Sue Toscano; father, Ralph Tipton; and sister, Caroline Tipton. Survivors include her soulmate and husband of 60 years, William "Bill" James Elder Sr.; children, William James Elder Jr. (Sherry), Harry Patrick Elder, and Michelle Lee McSwain (Jerry); grandchildren, Mallory Elder, Alyssa Buchanan, Harry Patrick Elder Jr., Brittany Langland, and Raymond McSwain; sisters, Tammy Meaders (Tim) and Sandy Royal; 16 great-grandchildren; along with other dear family members and friends. Visitation with the family will be held Monday evening, August 12, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Blackburn-Curry Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Jacksonville National Cemetery (Lane 3), 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville 32218, with Karen Grissinger officiating.
