Kathryn Kay Barber, age 60, of Glen St. Mary, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Shands UF Health in Jacksonville. Kay was born on January 22, 1958 in Jacksonville to the late Jake Oscar and Mary Etta (Crews) Bryant and has lived most of her life in Baker County. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who devoted her life to the love and care of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Travis Suggs; and her lifelong companion, Charles Thornton. Survivors include her sons, Gary Hires and Isaiah Gomillion, both of Sanderson, and Christopher Thornton of Glen St. Mary; daughters, Kathleen Renee Estell and Verdies Kay Hires, both of Lake City, and Beverly Morgan (Jimmy) of Macclenny; 17 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, along with numerous brothers and sisters.
