Katherine "Kathy" Rebecca Johnson, age 61, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville after an extended illness. She was born in Jacksonville on September 28, 1962, to Hilda Mae Cason and George Powell. She was a loving wife, mother, Grammy, Kaka, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Kathy devoted her life to caring for her family and loved ones. She enjoyed entertaining, where her kind, loving spirit was experienced by all who entered her home. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her beloved husband of 42 years, David T. Johnson of Jacksonville; daughters, Kristen Johnson of Jacksonville and Kelly Mack (Austin) of Callahan; brother, George W. "Billy" Powell Jr. (Karin) of Jacksonville; and grandchildren, Daisy Mae Mack and Kason David Johnson. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Blackburn-Curry Funeral Chapel with Pastor Rory Stark officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Riverside Memorial Park, on Normandy Boulevard in Jacksonville. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
