Joseph Marek, age 65, of Macclenny, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born on October 20, 1959, in Norfolk, Virginia, to Sylvia (Syncir) and Walter Marek, and had lived in Baker County for the past 37 years. Mr. Marek was a hardworking, skilled brick mason who could do just about anything with his hands. He played All-Star baseball when he was younger and later coached baseball for his boys. Joe enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia. When he was outdoors, he loved fishing and surfing. His greatest joy in life was his family and spoiling the grandbabies. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Walter, John, and Richard; along with his sister, Sylvia. Survivors include his devoted wife of 37 years, Judith Marek of Macclenny; sons, Alex and Anthony Yazbec, Joseph, Brian, and Christian Marek, and Joseph Morris, all of Macclenny; daughter, Laura Marek of Macclenny; brother, Bert Marek (Debbie) of Jacksonville; sister, Gail Marek of Jacksonville; and grandchildren, Madalyn, Maralyn, Taylor and Tyler; and bonus grandchildren, Ainsley, Albany, and Dennis.
