Joseph Franklin Starling Sr., age 81, of Macclenny, Florida, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Orange Park Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Macclenny on November 18, 1943, to Alma (Thornton) and Rommie Hardy Starling, and was a lifelong resident of Baker County. Joe was a caring father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He retired from the county as a Maintenance Supervisor in 2012 after 12 years of service. Joe enjoyed listening to bluegrass and country music, riding around on the back roads, and gardening. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tommy J. Starling; brother, R.L. Starling; sisters, Catherine Youngblood and Annette Thomas; beloved longtime companion, Shirley Timmons; and devoted canine buddies, Sugar and Blackie. He is survived by his son, Joseph "Joey" F. Starling Jr. (Cindy) of Lake City; stepson, Doug Timmons of Middleburg; sister, Barbara Belleville of Glen St. Mary; grandchildren, Eddie Moore Jr. (Teresa), Christopher Starling, Christin Raymond (Nate), Dustin Starling (Kristen), Dalton Starling, Jadyn Starling, Walker Starling, Jamie Timmons, and Jason Timmons; favorite nephew, George Wilkerson; along with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Blackburn-Curry Funeral Chapel with Pastor Eddie Griffis officiating. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery will follow.
