John "Jake" Raymond Lord, age 86, Glen St. Mary, Florida, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023, after an extended illness. He was born on January 12, 1937, in Cogdell, Georgia, to Inez Maoma (Ellis) and Joel Jefferson Lord. Mr. Lord had been a resident of Baker County for the past 54 years. He was a devoted husband, caring father, and proud grandpa and great-grandfather who enjoyed making memories with his family. In his early years, John joined the United States Army where he trained with the 82nd Airborne. He was assigned to the 11th Airborne and honorably served during the Korean War. John went on to work as a Service Installer Technician with AT&T, was past President of the CWA (Communication Workers of America), and retired after 40 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wallace Lord and James Lord; sister, Joan Keaton; and his wife of 40 years, Dolores Batson Lord. Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Barbara Lord of Glen St. Mary; daughters, Jennifer Revels (Richard) of Jacksonville, Jeanette Daniels (Mark) of Albany, Georgia, and Jodie Lord of Sevierville, Tennessee; 6 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be held 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2023, at Blackburn-Curry Funeral Chapel. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery, 724 Philadelphia Church Road, Hazelhurst, Georgia 31539.
