John Randolph Evans, age 72, of Sanderson, Florida, passed peacefully at Community Hospice St. Vincent's Riverside on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, after a brief illness. He was born in Tallahassee on October 1, 1952, to Nannie Ruth (Durrance) and John Randolph Evans. Johnny possessed a generous spirit, a sweet soul, and a smile as bright as the sun. Wise beyond his years and full of life, he touched countless hearts in his lifetime. He enjoyed playing cards, tinkering on projects, shooting pool, and riding his infamous bike, Thunder. Johnny was a skilled construction worker and an avid reader. He will be missed and remembered as a light of hope, with the promise that we'll see him again. Johnny was preceded in death by his father, John R. Evans; mother, Nan Durrance Bowen; stepfather, W.D. Bowen; and brother, David Victor Evans. He is survived by his daughter, Stacie Lynn Evans-Burnette; granddaughter, Somer Burnette Askevold (Erik); brothers, Denton Bowen (Debra) and Darrell Bowen (Candy); sisters, Nancy Bowen Chunn, Charita Bowen Hurst, and Dana Bowen; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, with family friend Shauna Burnsed officiating.
