Joe Boyd
Tamplin Jr.
January 30, 1938 – April 8, 2026
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joe B. Tamplin Jr, a man of quiet strength and love of family. Joe, son of the late Joe B. Tamplin Sr. and Letty Margelene Lane Tamplin, was born in Cedartown, Georgia, on January 30, 1938, and passed on April 8, 2026, in Orange Park, Florida.
Joe spent his life rooted in both Jacksonville, Florida and Richmond, Virginia, two places he proudly called home over the years. A graduate of Jacksonville University, he dedicated his entire professional career to the Seaboard Coastline Railroad, where his hard work, reliability, and commitment left a lasting impression on colleagues and friends alike.
He retired early to have more time to enjoy the things he loved most, his family, traveling, gardening, reading and walking his dog.
Joe came from a very tight knit family and was the oldest of 35+ first cousins along with 16 sets of aunts and uncles. He never had to complain he had no one to play with.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Maybelene Churchville Tamplin; son, David Michael Tamplin; second wife, soul mate, traveling partner and best friend of 44 years, Juanita Ivey Tamplin; brother, Marcus Lane Tamplin; son, David Allen Parker; and granddaughter, Lana Parker. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Dorothy Morris (Danny Gathright); son, Donald Parker; granddaughter, Tonya Jennings (Paul); grandsons, Mathew Parker and Dustin Parker; great-grandchildren, Chloe Parker, Tyler Townsend (Jenni), Dalton Townsend (Emily); sister-in-law, Diane Tamplin; and nephews, Damon and Devin Tamplin.
Joe will be remembered for his steady presence, strong work ethic, and the quiet way he cared for those around him. His years of service and the life he built stand as a testament to his character and dedication. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family is planning a drop-in open house for neighbors and friends on April 26, 2026, from 1-4 p.m. at Joe’s house. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Joe’s honor to your favorite charity.
Cremation arrangements entrusted to the dedicated care of BLACKBURN-CURRY FUNERAL AND CREMATION, 380 N. Lowder Street, Macclenny, Florida 32063.
