IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jaquleyn Lavon
Kight
January 27, 1946 – December 3, 2023
Jaquleyn Lavon Kight, age 77, of Sanderson, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 3, 2023. She was born in Lake City, Florida, on January 27, 1946, to Willie Mae (Gainey) and Andrew Jackson Dobson. Jaquleyn was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was her life. She moved to Baker County in 1970 and has called it home for the past 53 years. Jaquleyn retired in 2008 from the Baker Correctional Institution as a correctional officer. She spent the past 15 years of her retirement browsing yard sales, making arts and crafts, and, most importantly, spending time with her family. One thing she loved most was saving a dollar, and if there was something you liked, she'd buy you 11 of them only if they were on sale. Some family members are probably stacked with those Christmas gift sale items for the next few years. Outside of family time, Jaquleyn loved being in the yard. She was an avid gardener, tending to her lawn and plants to make the earth proud. Sometimes, a certain plant would barely hang on, but she kept it going proudly on its last leg. Jaquleyn is preceded in death by her parents; children, Ralph Taylor and Pamela Stewart; brother, A.J. Dobson Jr.; and sisters, Dorothy Braddock, Shirley Dobson, and Evelyn Anna Hodges. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Taylor; grandchildren, Troy Stewart, Summer Wilkerson (Joshua), and Miracle Thornton; great-grandchildren, Alaina Stewart and Liam Wilkerson; brother, Ronald Dobson (Marlene); and sisters, Katherine Ross and Charlotte Hodges (Don). A Celebration of Jaquleyn's Life will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, December 8, 2023, at Blackburn-Curry Funeral Chapel with Dr. Albert Starling officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of sending flowers, please plant a little something in her memory. Please be aware (in her memory) of the garden centers mark down perennials at unbelievable prices during the cold season. Cremation arrangements entrusted to the care of BLACKBURN-CURRY FUNERAL & CREMATION, 380 N. Lowder Street, Macclenny, Florida 32063. (904) 259-2806. Please share your condolences with the Kight family online at blackburncurryfh.com.
