IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Janis "Jan"
Wheeler Manning
May 2, 1954 – August 14, 2025
Janis Darlene Wheeler Manning, age 71, of Macclenny, Florida, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at St. Vincent's Riverside in Jacksonville. She was born in Lake City to Dona Lee (Pearce) and Eldridge Wayne Wheeler on May 2, 1954. Jan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Being the big sister of the family, she was like a second Mom to her younger siblings, whom she helped raise. In her younger years, she wrote poetry. She also enjoyed creating all sorts of designs through her love of crafting. Jan was a God fearing woman and a hard worker. She had the gift of a green thumb and could grow all kinds of green plants. Jan found comfort listening to traditional gospel music and peace taking care of her fur babies, cows, and chickens. But her most cherished accomplishments were the family she raised and the legacy she leaves behind. Jan was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Eldridge "Eddie" Wheeler. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Ivan Skorik of Ponte Vedra; sons, Kelvin "Danny" Manning and Joseph "Joey" Manning (Dena), both of Macclenny; stepchildren, Bogdan Skoryk of Ukraine and Anya Murrey of Ireland; siblings, Judy Ullo of Jacksonville, Wanda Burk (Ron) of Sanderson, Donna Thornton (Sam) of Raiford, Johnny Wheeler (Felicia) of Newberry, and Ray Wheeler of Macclenny; sister-in-law, Regina Wheeler of Glen St. Mary; grandchildren, Joey, Christine, Toni, Cortney, Taren, Anna, and Sofia; 15 great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Blackburn-Curry Funeral Chapel with Pastor Eddie Griffis officiating. Interment in South Prong Cemetery will follow. Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2025, at the funeral home. Arrangements entrusted to the dedicated care of BLACKBURN-CURRY FUNERAL AND CREMATION, 380 N. Lowder Street, Macclenny, Florida 32063. (904) 259-2806 .
